We sat down with Kim Gandy, President and CEO of the National Network to End Domestic Violence (NNEDV), to discuss the organization’s work, their motivation to enter the .ORG Makeover Contest and the organization’s future goals. With NNEDV’s recent widespread growth, the organization wanted a website that matched its newfound presence. Public Interest Registry Releases Report Demonstrating Extended Growth Of The .ORG Domain In 2013

“The Dashboard” Report Shows Steady Rise in International Registrations RESTON, Va., Feb. 19, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — Public Interest Registry – the not-for-profit operator of the .ORG domain – today released the results of its bi-annual domain name report, “The Dashboard,” detailing the increased growth of .ORG throughout 2013. The report reveals that 206,542 new .ORG domains were registered from January to December 2013, bringing the total number of .ORG domains under registration (DUM) to more than 10,346,000 globally. Other findings outlined in “The Dashboard” include the following: The number of .ORG domains under registration (DUM) grew by 2.6 percent in 2013. When it comes to renewal, 85 percent of .ORG registrants renew their domains for at least three years or more. Anti-Violence Advocacy Group Garners More than 9,400 Votes to Win a Newly Redesigned Website from Public Interest Registry and OmniStudio RESTON, Va. (February 12, 2014) – Public Interest Registry, the not-for-profit operator of the .ORG domain, today announced the National Network to End Domestic Violence (NNEDV) as the winner of the inaugural .ORG Website Makeover Contest. LAC, DNS and the Importance of Comunidad

The 1st Latin American & Caribbean DNS Forum was held on 15 November 2013, before the start of the ICANN Buenos Aires meeting. Coordinated by many of the region’s leading technological development and capacity building organizations, the day long event explored the opportunities and challenges for Latin America brought on by changes in the Internet landscape, including the introduction of new gTLDs such as .LAT, .NGO and others. The Forum addressed DNS from an industry perspective; the “divides,” both in terms of digital access, as well as participation in global IG forums; and security issues for the region’s DNS players. Critical distinctions were proposed in terms of the blurring of DNS issues with other Internet aspects, which reflects the complex ecosystem of players, technologies and social engineering.
