Public Interest Registry Selects Afilias for Back-End Registry Services

RESTON, Va. (November 14, 2016) – Public Interest Registry – the non-profit operator of the .org, .ngo, and .ong domains as well as four Internationalized Domain Names (.орг, .संगठन, .机构 and .组织机构) – today announced that it will enter into a new registry services agreement with Afilias as its back-end registry services provider. Public Interest Registry Opens Call for Nominations for Global Leaders to Join NGO Community Advisory Council

RESTON, Va., Oct. 11, 2016 Today, Public Interest Registry – the not-for-profit operator of the .org, .ngo and .ong domains – announced its search for NGO Community Advisory Council nominations. Focusing on issues unique to the non-governmental organizations (NGOs), the NGO Community Advisory Council members will help Public Interest Registry better serve the worldwide users of .ngo and .ong – top-level domains available exclusively to NGOs. The Public Interest Registry NGO Community Advisory Council provides feedback and advice on issues relating to the NGO community ranging from policy considerations to the introduction of new services. Seeking qualified leaders from Asia, Oceania, and Latin America and the Caribbean, Public Interest Registry collaborates with current Council members from diverse backgrounds, representing major regions from around the globe. Individuals may apply or nominate others now through December 9, 2016. New members will be appointed and will begin their three-year term in January 2017.

Public Interest Registry Enters the Final Phase in Organization’s Back-End Registry Services Procurement

RESTON, Va., July 25, 2016 — Public Interest Registry, the nonprofit operator of the .org, .ngo and .ong domains, today issued a Request for Proposal (RFP) for the management of its back-end registry services, concluding the Request for Information (RFI) phase of its procurement. Accordingly, all RFI participants — more than 20 in total, representing 15 countries — have been notified about their RFI submission status. Completion of the RFP phase and subsequent contract award is targeted for the end of 2016. It is further anticipated that the selected service provider will commence operations under the new contractual agreement on January 1, 2018. Should a transition of back-end registry services be required to a new service provider, Public Interest Registry anticipates that such a transition would be concluded by mid to late 2017.
