Public Interest Registry Selects Afilias for Back-End Registry Services

RESTON, Va. (November 14, 2016)Public Interest Registry – the non-profit operator of the .org, .ngo, and .ong domains as well as four Internationalized Domain Names (.орг, .संगठन, .机构 and .组织机构) – today announced that it will enter into a new registry services agreement with Afilias as its back-end registry services provider. The selection follows a competitive procurement process through which Public Interest Registry evaluated more than 20 potential service providers representing 15 countries.

Afilias was selected as the best value solution based on the objective criteria and requirements set forth in Public Interest Registry’s procurement process. It is anticipated that Afilias will commence operations under the new contractual agreement on Jan. 1, 2018.
