Voila Foundation: Bringing technology to underserved regions of Africa

Founded in 2013 and based in Cameroon, Voila Foundation was created to help the people of Sub-Saharan Africa access and utilize emerging technologies that have become commonplace in the Western world. This organization aims to reach some of the most underserved people in the world with all of the positive benefits of technology, including education and healthcare. Voila Foundation generally works by taking a “project management” perspective to a greater task, ensuring that decision makers and in some instances, suppliers, are linked directly with the communities they are aiming to serve. Voila Foundation’s founder Killian Mayua has traveled the world extensively, and believes that the technology experienced by European and American countries does not have to be isolated. He sees the attraction to Africa as a valuable emerging market, leading to many opportunities that otherwise may not have been possible. However, he understands that for Africa to be a valuable

You just can’t leave something like that and forget it and I couldn’t anyway. I had to try and do something about it.” And so, on this day 35 years ago, Terry dipped his artificial toe in the Atlantic near St. John’s, Newfoundland and took his first

“Start by doing what’s necessary, then what’s possible; and suddenly you are doing the impossible.” Saint Francis of Assisi Nearly four years ago, our team met around a conference table and decided to embark on a new journey – to devise and deliver a central space online that would forever change how nonprofits, NGOs and charities engage on the Internet. At the time, we were discussing what seemed like a simple concept, you know? NGOs, donors and volunteers taking action and making change for a better world; that sort of thing. The truth was, and still is, that organising a validated, digital and global landscape for the NGO community and those with little to no access to the online world isn’t so simple, but absolutely necessary and possible. What we knew, or at least what we truly cared about, was that we wanted to help people because our mission is

Reaching for New Heights and Global Impact

Working internationally not only offers a chance to expand branding efforts, but it’s also an opportunity to learn – about the customs, local businesses, and the people across international borders. Our team is grateful to have this opportunity to travel near and far, and to participate in collaborative, global partnerships in our efforts to better understand how people all over the world inject social good into their business culture to better their local communities. Did you know? According to the latest statistics from SEUK, social enterprises in Britain contribute approximately £24billion to the country’s economy and are responsible for providing nearly 1 million jobs? In Mumbai alone, nonprofit organisations educate more than 250,000 children on a daily basis. (The Guardian) According to recent data from the Aspen Network of Development Entrepreneurs (ANDE), about $200 Million (£118m) was invested in Brazilian social enterprises by private investors and investment funds in the
