The NTC .ORG Ambassador Award will debut during April’s NTC Conference in San Francisco
Reston, VA – March 19, 2009 – .ORG, The Public Interest Registry (www.pir.org), the registry behind the global .ORG domain name, announces its first-ever NTC .ORG Ambassador Award. The program will debut at this year’s Nonprofit Technology Conference (NTC) in San Francisco, CA. The NTC Conference is put on by the Nonprofit Technology Network (NTEN) and runs from April 26th to April 28th, 2009. The Award is being held in conjunction with NTEN and nominations are open across their membership community.
“We are so excited to be able to honor members of our talented and innovative .ORG community through this Ambassador Award,” says Alexa Raad, CEO of The Public Interest Registry. “The Ambassador Program is a key element in our ongoing effort to promote an open and communal spirit across the .ORG domain and we are looking forward to working with our chosen Ambassador over the next year.”
The .ORG Ambassador Program recognizes upstanding .ORGs and promotes sharing, communication, and interaction across the community. The nominations for this award will showcase the innovative and trend-setting ways .ORGs are using technology and social media to advance their mission, grow membership, and broaden awareness and visibility for their work and members. For the upcoming 12-month period, the award winner will have the ability to advance their organization’s mission by establishing thought leadership positions in blogs, whitepapers, public relations activities and e-newsletters, as well as garner increased visibility through coverage on the Public Interest Registry’s corporate website www.pir.org.
“NTEN is very excited to support the .ORG Ambassadors Awards program,” said Holly Ross, Executive Director of NTEN. “It’s great to now have an award that recognizes and spotlights the accomplishments the nonprofit community has had and for their innovative use of social media and advanced technology tools.”
This year’s NTC .ORG Ambassador will be selected by a panel made up of members of the .ORG and NTEN teams. The winner will be announced at the Luncheon Gala event at the NTC Conference on Tuesday, April 28, 2009. Winners must be members of NTEN, associated with and branded as a .ORG web presence, and they must have been doing business for at least one year on their .ORG web address. Nominations are now open and may be submitted through The .ORG Blog through April 13th.
