Okay, perhaps it was less insanity and more “doing good,” but March was an incredibly busy month for our team – packed full of conferences and events, announcements, conversations, and airline miles. Check out our timeline of events below for the scoop!
Techkriti – Kanpur, India
Techkriti is one of the largest student-led technology and entrepreneurship events in India/Asia. We were the title sponsor this year – engaging some of the smartest minds in this part of the world, and talking to the students (future CEO, COO and CIOs of India) about the advantages of having their own online presence to showcase their work and projects and to have a voice of their own.
SXSW – Austin, TX
This was our second year exhibiting at the Interactive Trade Show.
We had the opportunity to meet some really fascinating people, including (but not limited to!) those from +SocialGood, the UN, Beaconfire, WWF, and a number of marketing and branding agencies that work directly with nonprofits – catalysts to help us spread the message about .ngo and .ong domains for the global NGO community.
With the social good trend on the rise, we also made it a point to show people that .org is the premiere online space for people to carry out their causes, missions and reasons why, even as a for-profit organization. In case you haven’t heard of Sevenly, it’s a (for-profit) social enterprise that makes custom-deigned tee shirts and donates $7 from every purchase to a new nonprofit/cause each week. Our collaboration tees went off the shelves like hotcakes because the “start your movement on .org” tagline really resonated with people. Thanks for our shirts, Sevenly team!
In addition to the trade show, we partnered with Domain.com in hosting the Brush Square Bash II. So. Much. Fun. Thanks to everyone who came out! For those who couldn’t make it, check out the pics below to see what went down!
NTEN – Washington, DC
Do-gooders and tech nerds unite! 14NTC was NTEN’s best event to date, and we were extremely grateful to have the opportunity to introduce .ngo | .ong and the NGO portal to the NTEN community. For this event, we entered a partnership with Heather Mansfield of Nonprofit Tech For Good to provide live reporting and help spread the news about the launch of these domains that are coming soon exclusively for NGOs throughout the world.
In case you missed it, here was 14NTC, Storified.
ICANN49 – Singapore
On March 14, 2014, it was announced that the National Telecommunications & Information Administration (NTIA) intends to transition key Internet domain name functions to the global multistakeholder community. This was one major topic discussed at ICANN49, along with Accountability, Compliance, Country Code Top Level Domains (ccTLDs), and Domain Name Security.

Our CEO, Brian Cute, moderated the Accountability session along with ICANN’s Steve Crocker. In case you missed it, you can find the audio stream recordings here.
