When heading out for an event or dinner, people who rely on wheelchairs to get around are usually concerned about the ability to enter and navigate their destination. Wouldn't it be great if they could check before traveling? WheelMap.org is the ambitious project to rate all public spaces on wheelchair accessibility. The site utilizes OpenStreetMap.org as its framework. A simple stoplight based system shows green for spaces accommodating wheelchairs, yellow for those with some accessibility, and red for non-accessible spaces. All are encouraged to login, read the guidelines, and rate the spaces in their area.
