Bike & Build: Leveraging the Web’s Power for Good

Today we were excited to hear from Brendan Newman, Bike & Build’s Program Director and an alumnus of the cycling program that raises money for affordable housing. Bike & Build, along with 4 other .ORG community members, was a finalist for the 2009 .ORG Ambassador Award we presented this year at the NTC hosted by NTEN. DoSomething with .ORG at the Webbys!

This month, we are excited to hear from George Weiner, CTO of DoSomething.org, on their achievement of being a People's Voice Winner during the 2009 Webby Awards in the Youth category.  At DoSomething, they use the power of online to get teens to do good stuff offline.  The .ORG Team was proud to honor this extraordinary .ORG during the Gala celebration along with other .ORG winners in June.

Getting nonprofits online with Grassroots.org

We present another ‘Guest Blogger’ in our series from experts in a variety of different fields to share their insights on who .ORGs are and how .ORGs are using the domain to advance their missions and passions. This week, we’re talking to Grassroots.org, which is a 501c3 nonprofit organization that provides free web and business development services to charitable organizations in the US and Canada. We are excited for them to share their insights into online identity and building a credible presence on the Internet.

DNSSEC Slows the Internet?

Our DNSSEC FUD Buster series continues this month with a piece authored by Andrew Sullivan. Andrew works for Shinkuro, an organization that interests and expertise lie in secure Internet capabilities. This organization also provides leadership in community activities such as the Domain Name System Security Extensions (DNSSEC). He is currently the co-chair of the DNS Extensions working group at the IETF. Prior to joining Shinkuro, Andrew was Director of Name Services at Afilias Limited.
