Before moving to the Cook Islands, Maureen Hilyard was originally a teacher and distance learning facilitator in New Zealand. After completing a Master of Management by distance through Massey University (NZ) while in the Cooks, she is now a consultant specialising in institutional capacity building and development.  Maureen is a former Chair of the Board of the Pacific Islands Chapter of ISOC and is currently on ICANN’s At-Large Advisory Committee (ALAC). She is the ALAC liaison to the ccNSO and is active on the APRALO Executive Team. Maureen is also a member of the Asia Pacific Regional IGF (APrIGF) and the Asia Pacific School of Internet Governance (APSIG) Management Committees, and is a Director of the Dot Asia Board of Trustees.
